Week 1: Friday

A Dangerous Road, The Priest and the Levite

📖 Scripture:
In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.” (Luke 10:30-32, NIV)

❤️ Reflection:
The road from Jerusalem to Jericho was notoriously dangerous, filled with thieves and violence. The man in Jesus’ parable was left for dead, a powerful image of the brokenness of our world. Every day, people around us are hurting—maybe not physically beaten, but emotionally and spiritually wounded. Are we willing to stop and help, or do we keep walking?

The priest and Levite should have been the first to help, yet they walked away. Maybe they were afraid. Maybe they were too busy. Maybe they just didn’t want to get involved. It’s easy to judge them, but how often do we do the same? When was the last time we avoided someone in need because it was inconvenient? Let’s be different. Let’s choose compassion over comfort.

🔥 Challenge: Look around you today. Where do you see brokenness? How can you bring light and healing? Notice someone in need today and respond with compassion. A kind word, a helping hand—small actions make a big impact.

Week One Challenge:

Intentionally seek out opportunities to serve someone in need. Don’t wait for convenience—love is active, not passive.

📲 BLESS App Invitation:

Have you ever walked through your neighborhood and realized you don’t know the names of the people living right next door? The BLESS App is a simple way to start changing that! This week, take a step of faith—use the app to learn the names of your neighbors and commit to praying for them by name each day. Small actions like this open the door for deeper connections and opportunities to show God’s love. Let’s intentionally build relationships and be a light in our communities!

🙏 Praying for you this week—let’s go love like Jesus!

With you in this journey,

Eric
